Yoga

YOGA

Henley Hall is pleased to bring a residential ‘Yoga Retreat’ to Henley Hall - a structured programme combining yoga and teaching focussed on de-stressing, positive thinking and renewal - designed to improve the wellbeing of the individual.

Each session begins with a quiet period of stillness and centring to settle the body, breath and mind.  The physical yoga practice follows, which incorporates a wide range of asanas (postures), including forward folds, back bends, side bends, twists, balances and some inversions, all designed to develop strength, flexibility and concentration.  Poses are woven together in slow-flowing, mindful sequences, in which one pose flows effortlessly into the next.  Students are also encouraged to explore different breathing techniques (pranayama) and to experiment with some concentration and meditation practices.  A period of relaxation brings each class to a close, enabling students to leave the session feeling calm and refreshed.

Judy offers classes in the Hatha Yoga style but also incorporates elements from different styles and traditions of yoga to add variety.  These include Vinyasa Flow, Restorative, Scaravelli and Mindfulness.

Judy welcomes all students to her friendly classes, whatever their ability and prior experience of yoga.  She offers many options and modifications for each posture enabling students to access the practice at a level that is comfortable and right for them.  Her classes would be most appropriate for beginner and intermediate students.

Testimonials

I really enjoy your classes and very much appreciate your carefully planned practices. Each session is a treat of ‘me time’, which allows me to switch off from the worrying outside world and focus on yoga. I know it helps my physical being but it is such a powerful help in balancing my mental state too.

Vanessa

Judy was highly recommended by a friend and my first class with her didn’t disappoint. I have had many yoga teachers and Judy ranks as one of the very best. She incorporates gentle but challenging movements which are made appropriate for all abilities. The group is friendly and welcoming and the classes are very calming and relaxing. I feel stronger, taller and more flexible already.

Alison

A wonderful teacher for yoga enthusiasts of all levels! Judy’s yoga class is a highlight of my week and has helped me physically and mentally through the demands and stresses of the last five years.
